Finally we started the decorations!! I took help from my mother-in-law, as she is in town and she is really great in all DIY things, her inputs were really helpful.
I bought some wrapping sheets and stickers from the stationary nearby.
All set with our tools, we first started with the roof.
We took some bright red colour sheets and started sticking them on the roof Lightly with some common glue.
Lightly, because my Dear Devil started her assaults early. She banged the roof a few times yesterday, to tell us that she liked the house. Luckily, we took Amrit’s advice in my 2nd post and doubled walled it. So, the damage was not much.
After the bright red roof, we started on the walls. Initially, we thought of sticking different colour papers on the wall, but that did not look so great. So, we decided with a single green colour sheets with ‘heart’s design’ for all four walls.
Then we decided to put plain white sheets on the inside walls. So, she can add her own creativity to the play house.
Also, it gave a little light and open feel to the play house.
And she did start, with all her colours, before we can even finish it!!
The roof and floor on the inside are still to be done. Stickers and little hangings are still pending. But she did love it. So maybe we did not do that bad a job.
What are your thoughts??
After hearing all of your suggestions and comments….I decided to first make the house a bit sturdy. So, I added a few more cardboards to the wall (Thanks Amrit for the suggestion).
My daughter has already started to assualt it. She tried flatening the ceiling, don’t know why. Maybe adding a double layered wall, might just save it, till I decorate it. 🙂
I also added some cardboards to the base, to give it a cushiony feeling as suggested by Rajat, in my last post.
Now for decorations, I have decided to leave it on the stationary owner nearby. He keeps a decent collection of decorative items. I will check out his wrapping paper collection and few crazy stickers.
As for inside decoration, I am yet to decide on it. I am stuck on two options:
1. To make it black with glowing stickers (as suggested by Swati)
2. To go with white drawing paper for her to show her own creativity.
What do u suggest? Any 3rd Option?
Well, I tend to go big!!
So I started with a Doll house and turned it into a Play house for my Doll to play in.
I took 2 medium size cardboards to make the walls on three sides. After that I took a bigger cardboard for the roof, attached it to the walls to make sure it holds through all the upcoming assaults by her.
It has a natural window as well.
Seems a basic structure is ready. Now it needs a little decoration.
What do you think? Any modifications? Suggestions? Adding another floor seems a bit much (as per my husband)
Decoration ideas invited…!!
Hope you all are fine.
Today, I decided to give my 1.5 yr old a Doll house. Initially I thought of buying it from Amazon or something, but did not really like the options. The ones I did like were too expensive and did not feel like spending that much on a play thing.
So, I decided to make one with her help and a little help from Mr. Amazon. Don’t worry Amazon has not yet started this kind of customer help!!!
I had huge boxes of Amazon shipping available (addicted to buying stuff online) . The huge boxes were just pilling on and on, so I decided to break a few big ones for the Doll house..
Right now, work in progress!! Will update soon!!
I think parenting is the hardest job in the world. Most of the time you have no clue about what you are doing. For the rest of the time, when you think you know what you are doing…somebody somewhere says you are wrong!!
Your kids drive you to the point of madness, (just short of complete madness) and when you are just about to lose it… your kid does something unexpected….which makes that exact moment one of the best moments of your life!!
Before you can enjoy your moment…your kid again does something to bring you again on the verge of madness…that is parenting!!
What do you think?
What she felt in that moment contained, as one nameless part of it, the knowledge of the beauty in the posture of his body as he held her, as they stood in the middle of a room high above the lights of the city.
What he knew, what he had discovered tonight, was that his recaptured love of existence had not been given back to him by the return of the desire for her-but that the desire has returned after he had regained his world, the love, the value and the sense of this world-and that the desire was not an answer to her body, but a celebration of himself and of his will to live.

The statement so beautifully defines..that if you do not love yourself…you cannot love anybody else…!! You have to first appreciate yourself and be comfortable in your own skin…to appreciate others and gain respect.
Being the mother of a 1.5 years old, one of the most frequent question asked to me is
how much TV should be allowed? When is it too much.??
Wrote this some time back for Dailyhunt!! Finally published!!
